Patna, May 5, 2021: On the first day of the lockdown the roads were completely silent and shops opened at 7 am but the market was not crowded. There was some rush after 10 am but that too was much less than the normal days. People went home to buy milk and essential items for the home. There was no significant crowd at the vegetable shops. Meanwhile, police vehicles were running on the streets. Magistrate’s vehicles also continued to run on the streets to strictly abide by the order. At 11 o’clock, there was silence on the streets, and shutters of shops also began to shut down.

The officials were made accountable for the compliance of the lockdown with the issuance of the order by the Home Department on Tuesday. The District Magistrate (DM) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) were given a special responsibility to ensure the lockdown.

To make complete lockdown the DM and SP had prepared a roadmap in a meeting with the officials on Tuesday. On Wednesday morning, police from all the police stations with the magistrate on duty in the area were moving around.

DM Dr Chandrashekhar and SSP Upendra Kumar Sharma had activated the team to strictly follow the lockdown since morning. During this time he himself move to the road and asked the people to follow the order strictly. The SP itself conducted a vehicle checking on Bailey Road.
