Meerut, April 10, 2025: In a shocking incident, six young men arrived at the Meerut Metro Rail office with joining letters, only to discover they were victims of a job scam. The men, eager to start their new roles, were duped by fraudulent recruitment ads promising employment at the Metro office. Upon reaching the office, they were apprised of the scam, leaving them financially strained and emotionally distraught.
The scam involved recruitment ads circulating on social media platforms and messaging apps, promising employment opportunities at the Meerut Metro Rail. Each of the affected individuals paid significant amounts to secure these non-existent positions. The incident highlights the rise in job-related scams across the region and the need for authorities to intervene effectively.
According to local resident Rohan Kumar, a 25-year-old software engineer, “These scammers are taking advantage of desperate job seekers. Authorities should take strict action against them.” Officials from the Meerut Metro Rail confirmed that no such recruitment process was initiated by their organization, emphasizing the importance of verifying employment offers through official channels.
The police have initiated an investigation into the matter, urging victims to come forward and provide details that could help track down the culprits. This incident serves as a cautionary tale for job seekers to verify opportunities thoroughly before proceeding.
As per the official statement from the Meerut Metro Rail Corporation, “We advise applicants to always check for job openings on our official website and verified social media channels to avoid falling prey to such scams.”
