Patna, May 5, 2021: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has decided to provide free ration to 7-8 million people of Bihar. With the announcement of lockdown from May 05 to May 15, the Bihar government has also issued a guideline. The ration cardholders will not have to pay any amount for the month of May.

Bihar government itself will pay the amount being spent on ration. In June, people will get free ration, but it will be in addition to the ration which already received. People will have to pay for the ration in June. And they will also get five kg of free grain separately in June.

The Central Government has already announced an additional free ration for the months of May and June. This has brought great relief to those facing difficulty in getting employment due to Coronavirus infection. With the decision of the central government at least five crore grains are being given free to eight crore seventy lakh people of Bihar.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, two kg wheat, and three kg rice are being given free in May and June. This is in addition to the cereals received every month. In such a situation, the unemployed people have got a big relief amidst increasing cases of corona.
