RAJOURI, JUNE 15, 2021: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan today addressed the Ex-servicemen of the district live on the Facebook page of the District Administration.

In his address, the Deputy Commissioner hailed the Ex-servicemen and Veer Naris for their patriotic spirit. He added that Ex-servicemen of Rajouri have contributed a lot in the service of the Nation in their prime youth.

“I happened to meet several Ex-Servicemen who took part in the 1947, 1971 and 1999 War during my tours of the border district”, the Deputy Commissioner said.

“One Ex-serviceman named Santan Singh from Khawas came to meet me at my office and I felt blessed talking to him. His valour seems to be like that of a newly recruited soldier”, said the Deputy Commissioner.

The Deputy Commissioner said, “Even after being retired from the service, the Ex-Servicemen are making contribution to the Society in different forms”

The Deputy Commissioner urged the Ex-servicemen to keep working with the same zeal for the welfare of the society and assured full support from the District Administration in this regard.

“I want this serviceman to work side by side with the District Administration for peace and development of the Nation”, the Deputy Commissioner said.

“The District Administration Rajouri is working 24/7 to mitigate the covid pandemic in the district and sought the active cooperation of the Ex-servicemen in this respect”, the Deputy Commissioner added.

The Deputy Commissioner also lauded the Zila Sainik Welfare Board for its tireless efforts in ensuring the betterment of the Ex-servicemen community in the district.

“As many as 5600 Ex-Servicemen were registered with the Board as on 31 March 2021 but with the massive outreach by the District Administration and the Board, the figure has crossed 10000 in the district and concrete measures are being taken to register all the Ex-Servicemen in the district”, the Deputy Commissioner informed.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that several measures are being taken to strengthen the Zila Sainik Welfare Board and the mechanism for the online redressal of the grievances of the Ex-servicemen would be developed soon so that they don’t have to visit the board frequently for the redressal of the concerns.

In addition to this, the District Administration has also decided to set up a special grievances redressal cell in the office of the every Tehsildar of all the tehsils of the district where the Ex-servicemen would come and get their grievances registered.

“Whoever our Ex-servicemen are Sarpanches and Panches, they are working with utmost sincerity for the betterment of the society and their style of working is different from the other elected representatives of the district”, the Deputy Commissioner said.

The Deputy Commissioner also urged the Ex-servicemen to keep a close eye on the developmental works being carried out in their areas and ensure that proper quality is maintained by the Executing agency while executing the work on the developmental projects.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that As many as 1750 works related to water conservation have been completed last year and asked the Ex-Servicemen to personally inspect the quality of these works and give necessary feedback to the District Administration in this regard. He further informed that the work on repair, rejuvenation and restoration of all the water bodies of the district will also be carried out.

The Deputy Commissioner also enlightened the Ex-servicemen about some initiatives taken by the District Administration including making Rajouri a white City, polythene free district etc and sought active support from the Ex-servicemen for the successful implementation of the initiatives on the ground level.

The Deputy Commissioner said that several self-employment schemes and programmes are being launched by the Government and asked the Ex-servicemen to motivate their children to avail the benefits of the same.

“The Government has decided to construct a playground in every panchayat and the District Administration has started the process for the identification of land for the construction of the playfield in every panchayat of the district”, the Deputy Commissioner said. He urged the Ex-servicemen to identify suitable state land in their areas so that the playgrounds can be constructed to facilitate the youth of the district.

The Deputy Commissioner also asked the Ex-servicemen to get themselves registered under the SEHAT scheme and motivate the others for registration so that they can avail necessary benefits under the scheme.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the literacy rate of the girls is less in the district as compared to the boys. He asked the Ex-servicemen and the Veer Naris to motivate the parents to send their daughters to schools to receive an education.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that the District Administration is working for the welfare of the tribal community in the district and advised the Ex-servicemen to share their valuable experiences regarding which suitable steps can be taken to ensure the wellbeing of the tribal population of the district

“Women have been placed at the forefront in water and soil conservation and a dedicated water conservation cell of 25 ladies has been set up in the DC office and the District Administration has decided to link maximum ladies of the district with the cell”, the Deputy Commissioner informed. He urged upon the Veer Naris to get themselves registered with the cell and play an active role in water and soil conservation.

“The District Administration is taking all possible measures for the upliftment of the women in the society and concerted efforts are being made to ensure that the women are not oppressed in any way.” the Deputy Commissioner said. He also asked the Ex-servicemen to bring in the notice of the District Administration the issues of the women so that their genuine concerns are redressed on a timely basis.
