POONCH, OCTOBER 12, 2020: The District Administration Poonch under the chairmanship of the District Development Commissioner, Rahul Yadav on Sunday celebrated the International Day of the girl child with the theme, ‘My Voice, Our Equal Future’.

The programme was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramesh Angral; Programme Officer ICDS, Dr. Mohammad Tanveer; Chief Education Officer, Ram Saroop; CDPO, Jahangir Khan, besides the frontline workers from ICDS and Health department and girls children of different educational institutions were present.

The DDC highlighted the importance of the day and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign being implemented in the district. He said the girls are nowhere less than the boys in any manner and they have shown their caliber in every field.

Programme Officer ICDS, Dr. Mohammad Tanveer while speaking on the occasion, said that the girls are important stakeholders of society and it is our collective responsibility to take care of their needs and empowerment.

The DDC also provided appreciation certificates and an amount of Rs.10,000 each to seven girls under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme, who have secured position in 12th class examination and also distributed baby kits and dry sheets to nursing mothers..

This programme was also celebrated in all sub divisions of the district.
