Gandhinagar, 19th October 2022: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Defense Expo 2022 in Gandhinagar today (October 19). During the expo, he also laid the foundation stone of a new airbase at Deesa near the India-Pakistan border and said that this new airbase will emerge as an effective center for the country’s security.

At the same time, he also said that Gujarat will become the center of defense in India and will play an important role in India’s security.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “I was seeing on the screen that the people of Deesa were excited about the construction of the new airfield. This airfield will play a major role. Deesa is only 130 km from the International Border. If our army is specially with our Air Force taking the lead in Deesa, we will be able to better respond to any threat coming from the western side.” However, he did not name Pakistan during this period.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not say that this is the first such ‘Defense Expo’ in which only Indian companies are participating.
“Maritime security is becoming the world’s priority today for free trade as well as international security,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi added, “The export of Indian defense products has increased eight times in the last eight years. Defense forces will issue a list of 101 items whose imports will be banned, along with 411 defense equipment and equipment that will be made in India.”
