Kheda, 4th October 2022: Communal tension broke out in two cities of Gujarat on Monday. Stones were pelted at the Navratri event in Kheda. Half a dozen people were injured. On the other hand, the two sides also clashed in the Savli town of Vadodara. There was stone pelting here too, and some vehicles were damaged. The police have arrested 40 people from both sides.

During the Garba event in Kheda, some people from other communities pelted stones after the uproar, in which six people were injured. In Kheda of Kutch district, some people entered the Garba program and created a ruckus. SP Rajesh Godhiya said, “Some people, led by two persons named Arif and Zahir, reached the Navratri Garba venue and started creating obstacles. After that, they pelted stones.” The official said that six people were injured in the incident. Efforts are on to arrest the accused. Given the tension, security has been increased in the area. Multiple police personnel have been deployed.

There was a ruckus over the religious flag in Savli town of Vadodara. More than three dozen people have been caught after stone pelting in the vegetable market of Savali. According to Vadodara police, a group had put up religious flags on electric poles ahead of an Islamic festival. There is also a temple nearby.

The clash took place when some locals went to tell other community members that their religious sentiments were being hurt. After arguments on both sides, stone pelting began. During this, many vehicles were damaged here. Police said that an FIR has been registered. 25 people from one side and 15 from the other side have been arrested. Security has been strengthened in the area, and the situation is currently under control.
