Yerawada, 25th June 2024: In Pune, a man, angered by a boy eloping with his sister for an inter-religious marriage, attacked the boy’s father with a koyta, resulting in the father’s death. The incident occurred on Monday, June 24th, around 1:30 PM in the Rajiv Gandhi Nagar area of Yerawada.

Dhammakiran Lahade (25), a resident of Yerawada, filed a complaint at Yerawada Police Station stating that his father, Kathalu Kachruba Lahade (60), was murdered. Yerawada Police have arrested Ismail Riyaz Shaikh (24) and Sanket Umesh Gupta (21), both residents of Yerawada, and have registered a case under IPC Section 302 (punishment for murder).

According to police reports, the Lahade and Shaikh families reside in the Rajiv Nagar area of Yerawada. Kathalu Lahade’s second son, Yogesh Lahade (24), was in a romantic relationship with Shaikh’s sister, and the couple had recently eloped and married. Ismail Shaikh became enraged by this development. Along with his friend Gupta, he went to Kathalu’s home and attacked him with a knife, resulting in Lahade’s fatal injury and death on the spot. Upon receiving the information, Yerawada Police promptly arrived at the scene and arrested both perpetrators.

Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke of Yerawada Police Station stated, “Due to anger over his sister’s elopement, Ismail Shaikh attacked the boy’s father with a knife. We have swiftly apprehended the accused in this case.”
