JAMMU, JULY 26, 2020: The Government on Saturday informed that 523 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 156 from Jammu division and 367 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 17305. Also 09 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; 01 from Jammu division and 08 from Kashmir Division.

Moreover, 300 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 41 from Jammu Division and 259 from Kashmir Division.

According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 17305 positive cases, 7483 are Active Positive, 9517 have recovered and 305 have died; 22 in Jammu division and 283 in Kashmir division.

The Bulletin further said that out of 570508 test results available, 553203 samples have been tested as negative till July 25, 2020.

Additionally, till date 350946 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 43332 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 12 in Hospital Quarantine, 7483 in hospital isolation and 40852 under home surveillance. Besides, 258962 persons have completed their surveillance period.

Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Bandipora has 591 positive cases (including 30 cases reported today) with 187 Active Positive, 396 recovered (including 09 cases recovered today) and 08 deaths; Srinagar has 3793 positive cases (including 145 cases reported today) with 2189 Active Positive, 1518 recovered (including 40 cases recovered today), 86 deaths; Anantnag district has 1151 positive cases (including 20 cases reported today) with 402 Active Positive, 728 recovered (including 07 cases recovered today), 21 deaths; Baramulla has 1758 positive cases (including 18 cases reported today) with 587 Active Positive, 1108 recovered (including 30 cases reported today), 63 deaths; Shopian has 1363 positive cases (including 11 cases reported today) with 457 Active Positive, 886 recovered and 20 deaths; Kupwara has 1018 positive cases (including 10 cases reported today) with 358 Active Positive, 644 recovered (including 37 cases recovered today) and 16 deaths; Budgam has 1040 positive cases (including 56 cases reported today) with 408 Active Positive and 611 recovered cases (including 94 cases recovered today) and 21 deaths; Ganderbal has 318 positive cases (including 09 cases reported today) with 163 active positive cases and 149 recoveries (including 08 cases recovered today) and 06 deaths; Kulgam has 1443 positive cases (including 06 cases reported today) with 501 Active Positive and 916 recoveries (including 11 cases recovered today) and 26 deaths and Pulwama reported 1194 positive cases (including 62 cases reported today) with 584 active positive cases and 594 recovered (including 23 cases recovered today) and 16 deaths.

Similarly, Jammu has 823 positive cases (including 66 cases reported today) with 327 active positive cases and 482 recoveries (including 10 cases recovered today) and 14 deaths; Udhampur has 388 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 88 active positive cases, 299 recovered and 01 death; Samba has 364 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 161 Active Positive and 202 recoveries (including 15 cases recovered today) and 01 death; Rajouri has 524 positive cases (including 16 cases reported today) with 399 active positive cases and 123 recovered (including 01 case recovered today) and 02 deaths; Kathua has 460 positive cases (including 27 cases reported today) with 161 Active positive and 298 recovered (including 11 cases recovered today) and 01 death; Kishtwar has 106 positive cases (including 10 cases reported today) with 72 active positive cases and 34 recovered; Ramban has 472 positive cases (including 09 cases reported today) with 232 active positive and 240 recoveries; Reasi has 101 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 56 active positive and 45 recovered; Poonch has 170 positive cases (including 04 cases reported today) with 34 active positive and 135 recoveries (including 04 cases recovered today) and 01 death while Doda has 228 positive cases (including 18 cases reported today) with 117 active positive cases and 109 recoveries and 02 deaths.

According to the bulletin, of the total 17305 positive cases in J&K 3832 have been reported as travelers while 13473 as others.

The Bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.

The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metre from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.

As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.

The bulletin again explained that early detection of COVID-19 can prevent the spread of disease so we need to be responsible for the well-being of ourselves and everyone around us. “Not disclosing symptoms could put life of individuals and their families at risk. In case of symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing report early. Do not fear, call COVID-19 helpline numbers and seek medical advice”.

Advisory has further exhorted upon the people not to step out of home, unless absolutely necessary. “If you have to move out for unavoidable reasons, ensure that you wear a mask and practice social distancing, personal hygiene and frequent handwashing with soap and water.”

Public is advised to strictly follow the advisories issued by the government from time to time and rely only on the information released by the government through the daily media bulletin to print and electronic media.

People are also advised to refrain from spreading rumours and pay no heed to them at the same time.
