New Delhi, 12th July 2022: A SpiceJet flight from Dubai to Madurai, a Boeing B737 MAX aircraft, got delayed after facing a problem of wheel failure. The incident is said to have happened on Monday. This is the ninth incident of technical fault in a SpiceJet aircraft in 24 days. After this incident, the airline company’s reputation is getting tarnished. However, clarification has also come out from the company on the matter.

According to the information received, the Boeing B737 MAX aircraft carried the Mangaluru-Dubai flight on Monday. Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) officials said that after the plane landed, an engineer inspected and found that the front wheel was compressed more than usual.

Officials said the engineer then decided to stop the plane and SpiceJet sent another flight from Mumbai to Dubai to operate a Dubai-Madurai return flight. The airline later issued a clarification saying that the flight was delayed due to a ‘last-minute technical issue.’

A SpiceJet spokesperson said, “SpiceJet flight SG23 from Dubai to Madurai on 11th July 2022 was delayed due to a technical issue at the last minute. Immediate arrangements were made for an alternate flight which brought the passengers back to India.”

Delayed flight with any airline, no such incident occurred which would endanger the safety of passengers.

The DGCA had issued a show-cause notice to SpiceJet on June 19 following repeated incidents of technical glitches in its aircraft. Earlier on July 2, a SpiceJet flight bound for Jabalpur had returned to Delhi after seeing smoke in the cabin of the crew members at an altitude of about 5,000 feet.
