JAMMU, FEBRUARY 23, 2021: Division of Vegetable Science and Floriculture, SKUAST-Jammu today organised a function to mark Vegetable-Day.
The event was held under the guidance of Vice chancellor, Dr. J.P. Sharma, who inaugurated the function and distributed saplings of bittergourd, bottlegourd, cucumber, tomato, brinjal etc among the progressive farmers raised under low cost protected structures.
He was accompanied by Director Research SKUAST-Jammu Dr. Jag Paul Sharma and Dr. R.K.Samnotra, Professor and Head. They advised the farmers to adopt early production technology of vegetables for higher premiums.
The scientists of the division Dr. Sandeep Chopra, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Dr Satesh Kumar, Dr Manoj Kumar and Dr Anil Bhushan along-with PG scholars deliberated with farmers on various aspects of summer vegetable production and suggested them for adopting innovative practices in vegetable production for doubling farm income. The function was attended by more than 200 farmers and farm women from different areas and districts of Jammu region.
