Paradip, 9th March 2023: A fishing boat off the coast of Paradip, in the Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha, caught a spy pigeon that had been fitted with a camera and a microchip.
A few days ago, the fishermen were out at sea when they discovered a pigeon in their boat. On March 7, the bird was handed over to the Paradip Maritime Police.
The police believe that the bird was being used to spy. The local police were reportedly told that the bird’s wings had some writing on them in a language they didn’t understand.
Nimai Charan Sethi, the Paradip ASP, told news agency ANI, “We will produce the pigeon with all the evidence before a cyber expert to find out the truth. The bird will be examined by our veterinarians. The State Forensic Science Laboratory will be contacted for assistance to examine the equipment linked to its legs.”
According to Jagatsinghpur Superintendent of Police Rahul PR, the objects appear to be a camera and a microchip.
According to the police, the pigeon was discovered on the trawler around 10 days ago when it was anchored about 35 kilometers off the coast of Konark.
