Bihar, 9th August 2022: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has decided to break the alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and is now preparing to form a government with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Congress, and Left parties. Nitish Kumar has taken this decision suddenly, shocking people across the country, including Bihar. However, this is not the first time the CM has changed his stand. Before this, he had left the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in 2013 and shifted towards RJD and Congress. Then in 2017, he once again allied with the BJP. In this way, he has switched sides in politics multiple times.
Nitish Kumar has a good image in Bihar, owing to which he has been helping the RJD and the BJP, which have won more seats than the Janata Dal (United), JD(U), on his terms. Nitish Kumar has stunned the political arena many times with his maneuvers.
Nitish Kumar, who formed the government of Bihar with the BJP in 2005, surprised the political field for the first time in 2012. He was in the NDA but had voted for Pranab Mukherjee in the presidential election. After this, in 2013, when the BJP declared Narendra Modi as the PM candidate, Nitish Kumar ended the 17-year-old relationship.
JDU then contested the 2014 general election with RJD but suffered a crushing defeat in the BJP wave. Then, Nitish Kumar resigned from the post of CM suddenly, following which Jitan Ram Manjhi became the CM. JDU had won only two of the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar. After this, Nitish Kumar decided to join the Grand Alliance in the 2015 assembly elections and won. Not only this, in June 2017 he voted for NDA’s Ram Nath Kovind instead of UPA’s Meira Kumar in the presidential election with the Grand Alliance.
A month later, in July, he left the Grand Alliance and formed the government with the BJP again. BJP and JDU walked together for the last five years, but in April this year, they were surprised again. Nitish Kumar took part in the Iftar party organized at Rabri’s house. After this meeting, five years later, the speculations had intensified, which will now come to an end. Now, Nitish Kumar has surprised the country once again with his decision to leave the NDA and form a government with the Congress and the RJD.
