JAMMU, NOVEMBER 29, 2020: A virtual national workshop on Mushroom Cultivation: Avenues and Challenges was jointly organized by SKUAST-Jammu, Govt. Degree College, Poonch and NGO Attitude Change International.

The event was organized under the joint patronage of Dr. J.P. Sharma, – Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and Talat Parvez Rohella, Commissioner/Secretary, Higher Education Department, Govt. of J&K.

Over 400 participants from across the nation and from foreign nations like Nigeria, Malasyia and several other countries participated in the event.

In his inaugural address, Dr. J.P. Sharma emphasized upon the role of skill development and vocational training courses in new Education Policy. He stressed upon the youth to undergo skill development trainings in various agri-enterprises to become job providers rather than job seekers. He informed that SKUAST-Jammu has been nominated as the mentor institute for implementation of skill development courses.

Expert lectures were delivered by scientists from ICAR-DMR Solan, SKUAST-Jammu and GDC Poonch.

Prof. Syed Mussaraf Hussain Shah, Principal GDC Poonch welcomed the participants and hoped for further joint collaborations between SKUAST-J and GDC Poonch. Dr. Sachin Gupta, Associate Professor, SKUAST-Jammu and Prof. Rani Mughal of GDC Poonch were the conveners of the event and the programme was moderated by Dr. M. Ashaq Malik, the organizing secretary of the workshop.
