New Delhi, 20th July 2022: The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted bail to Alt News co-founder and fact-checker Mohammad Zubair in all the six FIRs registered against him in Uttar Pradesh. The top court said, “There is no justification for continuing custody.”

The Supreme Court said that there is a need for a consolidated inquiry into the matter. The court has also transferred all the FIRs registered against Zubair in UP to Delhi.

During this period, the SIT constituted by the Supreme Court like the UP government has also been dissolved. Mohammad Zubair has been granted interim bail on a personal bond of Rs 20,000.

The Supreme Court dismissed the UP government’s plea to stop Mohammad Zubair from tweeting. The court said, “It is like asking a lawyer not to argue… a person not to speak. Whatever he does, he will be responsible under law.”
