Lucknow, 21st January 2022: In the Lakhimpur-Kheri violence case against the seven accused in the death of BJP workers, a chargesheet has been filed in court today. The hearing on the bail applications of seven accused in the Tikunia case of the death of four farmers and a journalist was to be held on Thursday. Apart from this, the first hearing of this case was also to be held in the district judge’s court. But due to many employees of the civil court being corona positive, the district judge had declared a holiday in the civil court on Thursday. Hence no action could be taken.

District government advocate Arvind Kumar Tripathi said that due to the holiday on Thursday, the bail applications of the accused could not be heard in further trial. After this, the hearing was held on Friday and the SIT filed the charge sheet.

Eight people, including four farmers, two BJP workers, a driver and a local journalist, were killed in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident on October 3 last year. In this case, Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni, is the main accused in the case and is in jail since his arrest on October 9. Two FIRs were registered in connection with the incident. The first FIR, number 219/2021, was registered by farmer Jagjit Singh in connection with the deaths of farmers and a journalist in which he had implicated Ashish Mishra alias Monu, the Union minister’s son, and 15 to 20 others.

The second FIR, number 220/221, was registered by BJP worker Sumit Jaiswal in connection with the deaths of two party workers and a driver, in which he had implicated unidentified assailants. Sumit Jaiswal is also close to Ashish Mishra.

Eight people were killed in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence on October 3, 2021, when farmers were protesting against the visit of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya to the area. A vehicle allegedly belonging to Ajay and Ashish Mishra rammed some farmers, killing five. The angry mob torched several vehicles and killed three people, taking the death toll to eight.

The bodies of the farmers claimed that the four farmers were identified as Nakshatra Singh (55), Daljit Singh (35), Lovepreet Singh (20) and Gurvendra Singh (18) as vehicles crushed the protesters on the Tikunia-Banbirpur road. Gave. Four other deaths were reported from the BJP camp. They were traveling in a car and were allegedly dragged out of the car and thrashed to death by the protesters. The protesting farmers alleged that Union minister Ajay Mishra Teni’s son Ashish was in one of the vehicles that was crushing the protesters. However, both Teni and his son say that they have proof of Ashish’s innocence.
