Kanpur, 7 June 2022: During the presence of the President and the Prime Minister in Kanpur on Friday, the police are cracking down on the stone pelters in the case of violence, but the tension in the area is not calming down. In the ruckus that took place on the new road on June 3, the police team, which went to nab an accused, was attacked by a mob at Bajaria police station area.

The police were able to catch only one of the accused, while the other was rescued by the mob. It is being told that during this the mob also pelted stones at the police team. However, the police have denied any incidents of stone pelting. A large number of police and PAC have been deployed in the area after the incident.

After the riots in Kanpur, the situation, which was returning to normal, again heated up. When the police team reached to nab two of the miscreants identified by CCTV cameras and videos that went viral in the internet media, the crowd came in the way. Police got information that Amir, son of Manna, a resident of Comb Mohalla of Bajaria police station area, was also involved in the miscreants. On this information, the police reached to nab him. Amir and his accomplice were seen by the police near Nazir Dhal. As soon as the police caught him, local people and women came out in protest. Aamir’s friend escaped from police custody under pressure from the crowd.

When the officials came to know about the incident, a large number of forces were immediately sent to the spot. When the police and PAC arrived, people hid in the houses and switched off the road lights along with the electricity. Some even hung the locks. There was heavy tension in the area till late night, though the police did not use any force after that and the officers were seen explaining to the people.

After this incident, the news of stone pelting on police became increasingly viral. After some time, Joint Commissioner of Police Anand Prakash Tiwari clarified the situation. He said that the news which is going on in the context of Comb Mohalla is untrue. The police team went for the arrest of one of the accused which was opposed by his family, but the police arrested one of the accused by exercising restraint with the use of force.
