New Delhi, 29 April 2021: Taking a major decision, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has instructed all airlines in the country not to increase fares of domestic flights till May 31, 2021.

The ministry has said that 80 percent of airline capacity will also be retained by the end of next month. The decision has come at a time when the airline companies have appealed to the government to reduce the capacity to 60 percent. Actually, bookings have decreased due to Coronavirus infection.

In early April, aviation companies approached the government for help. Airline companies are bereft of the second wave of Coronavirus infection. At a time when the business of aviation companies started improving, then the second wave of transition has again destroyed their business.

The airline companies had placed three demands before the Civil Aviation Ministry. First, financial support so that their business can run. Second, the capacity cap should be reduced from the current 80 percent to 60 percent. Third, the government should strictly implement the Lower Fair Limit.
