JAMMU, NOVEMBER 16, 2020: Director Agriculture Production & Farmer Welfare Jammu, Inderjeet today inaugurated the first picking of Seedless Cucumber being grown under protected cultivation, here at Krishi Bhawan Talab Tillo.

Seedless Cucumber is grown under Naturally Ventillated Polygreen House (NVPGH) structure using advanced vegetable cultivation practices for demonstration and popularization among the farmers.

The Seedless Cucumber is tender-skinned (requires no peeling), bitter-free, crispy and tasty besides having dietary and health benefits being a good source of vitamins A, B & C and antioxidants.

Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs), Anil Kumar Nargotra, Joint Director Agriculture (Extension), Bal Krishan Chandan, Deputy Director (Central), Inderjeet Singh, Assistant Botanist, Mrs. Ambika Rani, Floriculture Development Assistant, Rohit Singh Ballowria, Research Assistant, Manmohan Singh, AEAs Surinder Radhotra and Gulzar Ahmad Wani, besides others were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director Agriculture stressed upon the officers to promote the production of exotic and high value vegetables under protected and controlled conditions to get round the year production with high returns.

Agronomist (Vegetables), J. C. Raina apprised the visiting officers about Seedless Cucumber and other exotic vegetables grown by the Vegetable Improvement Scheme.
