Gujarat, 30th October 2022: A major accident occurred in Morbi, Gujarat on Sunday evening when the cable bridge over the Machhu river collapsed. During this incident, many people standing on top of the bridge fell into the river. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police and administration team reached the spot and started the rescue operation on a war footing.

Rescue teams have rescued many people from the river and sent them to the hospital. The search for other people is also going on. Efforts are on to get all the people out of the river as soon as possible. Today being a holiday, it was very crowded here. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has expressed grief over the accident.

According to sources, it is being said that hundreds of people were present on the bridge at the time of the accident. This bridge is said to be very old and it was repaired only a few days ago. It was reopened to the general public only 5 days after the repair.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel tweeted, “I am deeply saddened by the tragedy of the suspension bridge collapse in Morbi. Relief and rescue operations are on. Instructions have been given to make arrangements for immediate treatment of the injured. I am in constant touch with the district administration in this regard.’’

PM Modi talks to Gujarat CM:

At the same time, the Prime Minister’s Office said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to the Chief Minister of Gujarat and other officials regarding the accident in Morbi. He has asked for the immediate mobilization of teams for rescue operations, monitoring the situation closely and continuously, and extending all possible help to the affected people.

Along with this, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also expressed grief over the accident by tweeting, ‘’Very sad news is being received from Gujarat. Many people are reported to have fallen into the river due to the collapse of the bridge in Morbi. I pray to God for their life and health.’’
