Ghaziabad, January 29, 2021: A case of suicide by a magistrate has surfaced in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. On receiving the information about the suicide, the magistrate was immediately taken to Yashoda Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. After this, his body has been sent for postmortem. Police reported to the spot after receiving information about the incident and are investigating the case.

According to the information received, Magistrate Yogesh Kumar, posted in Ghaziabad Additional District and Sessions Judge Court No-9, committed suicide by hanging himself at his official residence of Judge Colony on Friday morning. Yogesh Kumar Sharma, 46, lived in Flat No. 303 Tower 2 Judges Residence, Model Town, Thane Sihanigat.

He was originally from Meerut. Yogesh Sharma was appointed on 17 March 2020 in the Ghaziabad District Court. This was his first posting to the post of ADJ.

He is survived by his wife Suchita Sharma, son Manu Sharma (15 years), and daughter Nandini (12 years). The cause of the suicide is yet to be known.

Police notify that the reason for the suicide has not been revealed yet. “The police has started the investigation of the matter. The situation will be clear only after the postmortem report comes.”
