SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 30, 2020: According to the Assistant Director, Enforcement wing, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Kashmir, the Enforcement squad of the Department conducted market checking in thirty four zones of Srinagar City in the month of November 2020.

He said that during market checking drive 1980 business establishments were inspected & a penal sum of Rs 299600 has been collected as fine from 446 erring shopkeepers which includes Mutton, Poultry, Vegetable, Bakery, Fruit sellers, Milk sellers etc.

Besides, 74 erring traders were booked for violation of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.

Similarly, 8497 business establishments were also inspected in other districts.

Among these 1472 erring traders have been penalized Rs 265550 and 87 defaulters were for violating various laws.

Moreover, rotten bakery and vegetables were destroyed on the spot.

Meanwhile, AD Enforcement, has appealed to the people to report profiteering by shopkeepers to him to keep a vigil on errant traders.

He reiterated that the drive will continue and strict action under law shall follow against the violators.
