SAMBA, NOVEMBER 10, 2020: District administration, Samba, under supervision of District Development Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria today organised a two -day Diwali mela in the DC office centre park Nandini hills.

Multiple departmental stalls displaying their respective schemes, products and services for general public were installed.

The stalls installed included handicraft and handloom, social welfare, J&K Bank, Horticulture, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, ICDS, Transport, Aysush-ISM, Education, Sheep Husbandry, health besides other departments in which products like woollen shawls, handknit clothes, decorative items, rugs, Diyas, bamboo products, fruit bearing plants, driving Signages, free Ayush medicines and others govt sponsored schemes were displayed.

The DC inspected the departmental installed stalls and also enquired about the services being provided to the general public. He exhorted upon all the district officers to visit the stalls and promote the utilities of handicraft, handloom products, Self help Groups products, besides disseminate information about Government schemes among the public.

“We must come forward and encourage the initiatives for promoting the indigenous, eco-friendly and sustainable products. District officers, and employees should encourage the general public visiting their offices to visit the Diwali mela and have a detailed prospective view of each department stalls and their products as well” added DC Samba.

The Diwali mela also witnessed cultural programme featuring songs, nukkad-nattak, besides distribution of driving licenses among the girls under beti bacho beti Padhao campaign.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Suram Chand Sharma; Assistant commissioner Revenue; Jitender Mishra; Chief Planning Officer, Sukhleen Kour; PO, ICDS Anu Bhel besides other officers and general public were also present.
