SAMBA, NOVEMBER 11, 2020: The 2-day Diwali Mela concluded today here at DC Office Samba amid prize distribution, coffee table inauguration, Signature Campaign under BBBP and other various activities.
The block development council chairperson from across the district participated on the second day of the Diwali Mela. They inspected the departmental stalls depicting their products, schemes and services.
District Development Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria released the coffee table book containing ‘development stories’ of the district and various activities promoting Beti Bachao Beti Padhao schemes like Signature campaign.
Deputy Commissioner exhorted upon departments to promote the handicraft & handloom products, the products manufactured by the Self help groups and disseminate the information about the government schemes. He said for promoting the indigenous, eco-friendly and sustainable products and asked the people to come forward and encourage such initiatives.
The stalls were put up by handicraft and handloom, social welfare, J&K Bank, Horticulture, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, ICDS, Transport, Aysush-ISM, education, sheep Husbandry, Health besides other various departments in which products like woollen shawls, handknit clothes, decorative items, rugs, Diyas, bamboo products, fruit bearing plants, driving signages, free Ayush medicines, besides information regarding government sponsored schemes were displayed.
The Diwali mela also witnessed songs, cultural programmes and nukkad-nattaks.
Among others present were Additional Deputy Commissioner, Suram Chand Sharma; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Jitender Mishra; Chief Planning Officer, Sukhleen Kour; PO ICDS, Anu Bhel besides Block Development Council Chairman of Ghagwal Vijay Tagotra, Ramgarh, Darshan Singh, Bari Brahmana Renu Devi and besides other officers, general public were also present on the occasion.
