GANDERBAL, NOVEMBER 02, 2020: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, P.K Pole today said that extra-curricular activities are imperative for the overall development of the youth. He said this during the inauguration of Sheikh Jabbar Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament held at Madri Meharban Stadium, Ganderbal.
Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Shafqat Iqbal, VC Central university Kashmir, Ex MLA Ganderbal, Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar and other concerned were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, Div Com urged the players to engage in sports for physical and mental development. He encouraged participants to work hard to achieve better performance in sports activities, as these events provide a much needed platform to exhibit their talent and to develop a career in sports.
While appreciating the efforts of the organizers, the Div Com expressed hope that the tournament will go a long way in imbibing values of positivity, discipline, professionalism and team spirit among players.
The inaugural match was played between Beehama Eleven and Young Eleven Saloora.
During the tournament 91 matches will be played among 92 teams at different venues like Lar, warapaho Alustang, Nawabagh and Shalabugh.
Meanwhile, a huge gathering of spectators including youth, elders and children was present.
