SHOPIAN, JULY 23, 2020: Director, Horticulture Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, today conducted an extensive tour of Shopian to inspect developmental works in the district.
The Director inspected various developmental works including departmental nurseries, fruit plant Zainapora besides others and directed the concerned to conduct time bound operations and ensure proper maintenance of the departmental farm and nurseries.
He said field staff must ensure proper functioning of irrigation infrastructure and layout of distribution system at an earliest besides advising them to conduct urea spray in nursery plants.
During his visit to ACHD, Zainapora, the Director appreciated the efforts made for plantation of imported root stock and its maintenance, amid the lockdown due to COVID-19.
He instructed officers to provide every possible support and guidance to the orchardists for remedial measures to be adopted as per spray schedule while following the guidelines and SOP related to COVID-19.
Meanwhile Bhat stressed that farmers must shift their traditional cultivation into scientific and high density species for better yield.
He said 2.80 lakh new root stock imported from Netherland has been planted and kept under quarantine conditions at this farm for propagation and multiplication besides 3.50 lakh has already been distributed.
