JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 06, 2020: The Government on Saturday informed that 1251 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 739 from Jammu division and 512 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 42241. Also 15 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; 10 from Jammu division and 05 from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 489 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 123 from Jammu Division and 366 from Kashmir Division.
According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 42241 positive cases, 9547 are Active Positive, 31924 have recovered and 770 have died; 91 in Jammu division and 679 in Kashmir division.
The Bulletin further said that out of 1051826 test results available, 1009585 samples have been tested as negative till September 05, 2020.
Till date 476330 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 43668 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 9547 in isolation and 48834 under home surveillance. Besides, 373511 persons have completed their surveillance period.
Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Srinagar has 9985 positive cases (including 181 cases reported today) with 1400 Active Positive, 8352 recovered (including 161 cases recovered today), 233 deaths; Baramulla has 2988 positive cases (including 51 cases reported today) with 532 Active Positive, 2352 recovered (including 24 cases recovered today), 104 deaths; Pulwama reported 2807 positive cases (including 40 cases reported today) with 473 active positive cases, 2278 recovered (including 18 cases recovered today), 56 deaths; Kulgam has 1986 positive cases (including 03 cases reported today) with 124 Active Positive, 1825 recoveries (including 05 cases recovered today), 37 deaths; Shopian has 1739 positive cases (including 04 cases reported today) with 100 Active Positive, 1611 recovered, 28 deaths; Anantnag district has 2499 positive cases (including 35 cases reported today) with 502 Active Positive, 1945 recovered (including 13 cases recovered today), 52 deaths; Budgam has 2797 positive cases (including 69 cases reported today) with 697 Active Positive and 2036 recovered (including 51 cases recovered today), 64 deaths; Kupwara has 2289 positive cases (including 54 cases reported today) with 639 Active Positive, 1596 recovered (including 32 cases recovered today), 54 deaths; Bandipora has 2330 positive cases (including 12 cases reported today) with 689 Active Positive, 1615 recovered (including 20 cases recovered today), 26 deaths and Ganderbal has 1671 positive cases (including 63 cases reported today) with 416 active positive cases, 1230 recoveries (including 42 cases recovered today) and 25 deaths.
Similarly, Jammu has 4902 positive cases (including 520 cases reported today) with 2564 active positive cases, 2279 recoveries (including 68 cases recovered today), 59 deaths; Rajouri has 989 positive cases (including 22 cases reported today) with 187 active positive cases, 797 recovered (including 08 cases recovered today), 05 deaths; Ramban has 692 positive cases (including 19 cases reported today) with 43 active positive, 648 recoveries, 01 death; Kathua has 1039 positive cases (including 27 cases reported today) with 275 Active positive, 756 recovered (including 09 cases recovered today), 08 deaths; Udhampur has 981 positive cases (including 72 cases reported today) with 240 active positive cases, 737 recovered (including 09 cases recovered today), 04 deaths; Samba has 800 positive cases (including 23 cases reported today) with 215 Active Positive, 582 recoveries (including 04 cases reported today), 03 deaths; Doda has 493 positive cases (including 27 cases reported today) with 118 active positive cases, 370 recoveries (including 08 cases recovered today), 05 deaths; Poonch has 480 positive cases (including 11 cases reported today) with 106 active positive, 369 recoveries (including 04 cases reported today), 05 deaths; Reasi has 439 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 101 active positive, 338 recoveries while Kishtwar has 335 positive cases (including 16 cases reported today) with 126 active positive cases and 208 recoveries (including 13 cases recovered today) and 01 death .
According to the bulletin, of the total 42241 positive cases in J&K 6937 have been reported as travelers while 35304 as others.
The Bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meter from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
The bulletin again explained that early detection of COVID-19 can prevent the spread of disease so we need to be responsible for the well-being of ourselves and everyone around us. “Not disclosing symptoms could put life of individuals and their families at risk. In case of symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing report early. Do not fear, call COVID-19 helpline numbers and seek medical advice”.
Advisory has further exhorted upon the people not to step out of home, unless absolutely necessary. “If you have to move out for unavoidable reasons, ensure that you wear a mask and practice social distancing, personal hygiene and frequent hand washing with soap and water.”

The bulletin has informed that the Directorate of Indian Systems of Medicine, J&K is distributing AYUSH Medicines having immunity boosting, immuno-modulator, anti-oxidant, rejuvenator, anti-stress, metabolism regulator, anti-allergic, anti-pyretic, anti-tussive, bronchodilator, etc properties during the COVID-19 pandemic. The department so far has provided medicine to 8.97 lakh people that include various frontline workers, senior citizens, PRIs, police/paramilitary personals and general masses. Moreover, preventive measures and Yoga therapies are also being advised to the people to take care of lifestyle/mental disorders so that physical and mental health is ensured during this pandemic.
