JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 07, 2020: The Government on Sunday informed that 1316 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 668 from Jammu division and 648 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 43557. Also 14 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; 07 from Jammu division and 07 from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 403 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 87 from Jammu Division and 316 from Kashmir Division.
According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 43557 positive cases, 10446 are Active Positive, 32327 have recovered and 784 have died; 98 in Jammu division and 686 in Kashmir division.
The Bulletin further said that out of 1074998 test results available, 1031441 samples have been tested as negative till September 06, 2020.
Till date 477902 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 41386 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 10446 in isolation and 48789 under home surveillance. Besides, 376497 persons have completed their surveillance period.
Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Srinagar has 10165 positive cases (including 185 cases reported today) with 1429 Active Positive, 8499 recovered (including 147 cases recovered today), 237 deaths; Baramulla has 3048 positive cases (including 59 cases reported today) with 584 Active Positive, 2360 recovered (including 08 cases recovered today), 104 deaths; Pulwama reported 2856 positive cases (including 49 cases reported today) with 495 active positive cases, 2304 recovered (including 26 cases recovered today), 57 deaths; Kulgam has 1997 positive cases (including 11 cases reported today) with 130 Active Positive, 1829 recoveries (including 04 cases recovered today), 38 deaths; Shopian has 1746 positive cases (including 07 cases reported today) with 105 Active Positive, 1613 recovered (including 02 cases reported today), 28 deaths; Anantnag district has 2560 positive cases (including 61 cases reported today) with 540 Active Positive, 1968 recovered (including 23 cases recovered today), 52 deaths; Budgam has 2867 positive cases (including 69 cases reported today) with 735 Active Positive and 2067 recovered (including 31 cases recovered today), 65 deaths; Kupwara has 2382 positive cases (including 93 cases reported today) with 701 Active Positive, 1627 recovered (including 31 cases recovered today), 54 deaths; Bandipora has 2365 positive cases (including 32 cases reported today) with 697 Active Positive, 1642 recovered (including 27 cases recovered today), 26 deaths and Ganderbal has 1753 positive cases (including 82 cases reported today) with 481 active positive cases, 1247 recoveries (including 17 cases recovered today) and 25 deaths.
Similarly, Jammu has 5353 positive cases (including 451 cases reported today) with 2971 active positive cases, 2319 recoveries (including 40 cases recovered today), 63 deaths; Rajouri has 1031 positive cases (including 42 cases reported today) with 206 active positive cases, 819 recovered (including 22 cases recovered today), 06 deaths; Ramban has 702 positive cases (including 10 cases reported today) with 50 active positive, 651 recoveries (including 03 cases recovered today), 01 death; Kathua has 1070 positive cases (including 31 cases reported today) with 302 Active positive, 759 recovered (including 03 cases recovered today), 09 deaths; Udhampur has 998 positive cases (including 17 cases reported today) with 246 active positive cases, 748 recovered (including 11 cases recovered today), 04 deaths; Samba has 828 positive cases (including 28 cases reported today) with 242 Active Positive, 582 recoveries, 04 deaths; Doda has 529 positive cases (including 36 cases reported today) with 147 active positive cases, 377 recoveries (including 07 cases recovered today), 05 deaths; Poonch has 506 positive cases (including 26 cases reported today) with 132 active positive, 369 recoveries, 05 deaths; Reasi has 447 positive cases (including 08 cases reported today) with 108 active positive, 339 recoveries (including 01 case recovered today) while Kishtwar has 354 positive cases (including 19 cases reported today) with 145 active positive cases and 208 recoveries and 01 death .
According to the bulletin, of the total 43557 positive cases in J&K 7037 have been reported as travelers while 36520 as others.
The Bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meter from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
The bulletin again explained that early detection of COVID-19 can prevent the spread of disease so we need to be responsible for the well-being of ourselves and everyone around us. “Not disclosing symptoms could put life of individuals and their families at risk. In case of symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing report early. Do not fear, call COVID-19 helpline numbers and seek medical advice”.
Advisory has further exhorted upon the people not to step out of home, unless absolutely necessary. “If you have to move out for unavoidable reasons, ensure that you wear a mask and practice social distancing, personal hygiene and frequent hand washing with soap and water.”

The bulletin has informed that the Directorate of Indian Systems of Medicine, J&K is distributing AYUSH Medicines having immunity boosting, immuno-modulator, anti-oxidant, rejuvenator, anti-stress, metabolism regulator, anti-allergic, anti-pyretic, anti-tussive, bronchodilator, etc properties during the COVID-19 pandemic. The department so far has provided medicine to 8.97 lakh people that include various frontline workers, senior citizens, PRIs, police/paramilitary personals and general masses. Moreover, preventive measures and Yoga therapies are also being advised to the people to take care of lifestyle/mental disorders so that physical and mental health is ensured during this pandemic.
