Patna, 7th May 2021: The government had announced to start vaccination for people above 18 years of age from May 1, but it could not start due to the non-availability of vaccines with the state. However, the vaccination is expected to start after May 15.

According to the media report, Bihar Health Department has ordered 11.89 lakh doses from Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII) and 4.12 lakh doses to Bharat Biotech. On May 1, both companies released the price of their vaccines. But no date has been given yet to get the vaccine. As per the report, it has been mentioned by referring to the sources of the department that between 15-20 May Bihar can get 16 lakh doses of vaccines.

On April 18, the Health Department had placed an order for the supply of one crore vaccine doses from the Serum Institute. Almost all the states have placed an order with the Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech for the vaccines.

Health Minister Mangal Pandey had said that Bihar government officials are regularly trying to get the vaccine. Soon, Bihar will get the first lot and after that, the date of vaccination will be fixed. Those above 18 years of age will soon get vaccinated in Bihar.
