Patna, April 23, 2021: Around 10,926 COVID-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 in the state. As per data provided by the Bihar Health Department, a recovery rate of 77.27 per cent has been registered. However, 13,089 new COVID-19 cases have been found in the state. Of which, 2,186 new cases were registered in the state capital Patna which is a worrying situation. Along with Patna, 1,128 cases were registered in Gaya and 666 cases were registered in Begusarai.
On Thursday, 12 patients died at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) in Patna. Out of which, five were females. Of those who died, 11 were residents of Patna district, while one was from Siwan.
Sub Inspector Kameshwar Singh posted in Bhojpur district passes away due to COVID-19. He was in charge of the Gidda outpost and was admitted to a private hospital in Patna.
Senior newspaper journalist and advocate Nirbhay Kumar Singh also died in Patna. He was undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at AIIMS Patna.
In the Madhubani district, the COVID-19 cases have surpassed 2,000, while the death toll in the district has risen to 16. The number of residents who died outside the district has increased to 75.
In Darbhanga, three patients died in the last 24 hours. One died at Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), while two passed away at a private hospital. Around 116 new COVID-19 positive cases have been registered in the district.
In Samastipur, 494 new cases of COVId-19 have been recorded in the district.
The coronavirus outbreak continues to wreak havoc in the Araria district as well with 161 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours.

The number of samples collected from persons belonging to other states is 33.
