New Delhi, 15 March 2021: The police have given a big relief to those going from the capital Delhi to Ghaziabad. The Delhi Police opened a lane (which leads from Delhi to Ghaziabad) of the National Highway-24 at the UP Gate border late last night, which has brought great relief to those going from Delhi to Ghaziabad besides Meerut, Lalkuan, Dasna, Hapur.
A police officer said that keeping in view the public’s convenience and the prevailing law and order situation on the Ghazipur border, a single National Highway lane from Delhi to Ghaziabad has been opened. He said that this road has been opened only after proper consultation with the police officers of Ghaziabad. Earlier on 2 March, authorities have opened for some time. However, it was later closed again.
Delhi Police completely shut down the flyover from Delhi to Ghaziabad after the tractor rally violence in Delhi on 26 January. Due to this, vehicles going towards Ghaziabad, Meerut, Lalkuan, Dasna, Hapur had to go through Anand Vihar Border, Which caused the heavy jam in the evening. People also used to go through the Seemapuri border to avoid traffic jams. Because of this, many areas of East Delhi became congested.
Last night, the police removed the gate’s barrier from Delhi to Ghaziabad at the UP gate. However, people going from Ghaziabad to Delhi will have to face the jam as the barrier is still intact on that lane. Due to the border’s closure, EDM goods or Anand Vihar had to pass through the border only.
