New Delhi, March 15, 2021: Delhi Police has detained 55 people suspected to be wandering in a five-hour search operation after a siege in the Karol Bagh area of the capital Delhi.
Police officials said on Monday that 100 personnel, including paramilitary personnel, were involved in the operation. The campaign was conducted from seven in the evening till late in the night.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Jasmeet Singh said that the purpose of conducting a search operation by siege was to catch the suspects already involved in criminal acts. He told that this campaign lasted for five hours. Enlisted criminals were caught during this period. The DCP reported that two persons were caught drinking alcohol in a public place. He has been detained under the Delhi Excise Act. At the same time, 55 other suspects have been detained for questioning under various sections of the Delhi Police Act.
A similar siege was carried out on March 6 at Patel Nagar, Ranjit Nagar, and Anand Parbat in Delhi. During this time four people were arrested in the case of looting etc. Four people were also arrested for drinking alcohol at a public place and 82 people suspected to be roaming around were detained, they are being questioned.
