Uttar Pradesh, 12th May: Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has returned to Sitapur jail after being produced in the CBI court in Lucknow. On the other hand, Azam Khan’s wife Tanzin Fatima and son Abdullah Azam also arrived today to appear in the MP-MLA court in Rampur. A warrant was issued against both of them yesterday due to their non-appearance on several dates.

Azam Khan was brought to Lucknow from Sitapur Jail on Thursday amid heavy security arrangements to appear in the Jal Nigam recruitment scam. He was produced in the CBI court. However, due to some legal complications, the charges could not be framed.

The court had issued a warrant against Abdullah Azam and his mother Dr Tanzin Fatima due to their non-appearance on several dates in the two birth certificates case. Today both of them reached the Rampur’s MP-MLA court.

On Wednesday, there was supposed to be a hearing on the case of two birth certificates of Abdullah. Manoj Pathak, the principal of St.Paul School, is also a witness in this case. Abdullah had his early education at this school. The principal’s testimony has been done. He is to be cross-examined by the defence counsel. The principal appeared in court.

BJP leader Akash Saxena, the plaintiff of the case, also reached the court. But, no one appeared personally from the side of the accused. Moreover, his counsel was not even cross-examined. BJP leader’s advocate Sandeep Saxena said that the application was given by the defence lawyer regarding the apology of the accused’s attendance, which was rejected by the court. Along with this, the court had issued warrants against the mother-son accused in the trial.

BJP leader Akash Saxena had filed three separate cases, making two birth certificates of different dates of birth, two passports and two PAN cards of MLA Abdullah Azam. Apart from Abdullah, his father Azam Khan and his mother, former MP Dr Tanzin Fatima are also named in the birth certificate case.

Dr Tanzin Fatima and Abdullah Azam were released from Sitapur Jail on bail in December 2020 after being in jail for 10 months. Azam Khan has been lodged in Sitapur jail for 28 months. He has 89 cases registered against him, out of which he got bail in 88.
