Kolkata, 6th May 2022: Union Home Minister Amit Shah condemned the death of a Bharatiya Janata Party worker in Kolkata’s Chitpur-Kosipur area and met his family members. Calling the incident a “political murder”, Amit Shah has demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident.
According to the information received, BJP worker Arjun Chaurasia was found hanging from the roof of an empty building on Friday, May 6. He was set to lead a bike rally to welcome Union Home Minister Amit Shah whi is on a two-day visit to West Bengal.
Terming Arjun’s death as a conspiracy, Amit Shah condemned the incident and demanded strict action against those responsible.
Talking to reporters, Amit Shah said, “Yesterday the TMC government completed one year of its tenure. From today the era of political killings has started in the state. BJP condemned the killing of Arjun Chaurasia. I met the victim’s family, his grandmother was also beaten up. The BJP has demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident.”
Amit Shah further said, “The Union Home Ministry has taken cognizance of the incident and has sought a report from the West Bengal government.”
The Union Home Minister alleged that efforts are being made to create an atmosphere of fear in West Bengal.
He said, “In Bengal, attempts are being made to silence the opposition, by using violence and murder to create fear. This is a conspiracy to create an atmosphere of fear,” he said.
He claimed that the BJP does not believe in the politics of violence and is not afraid of the politics of violence.
Amit Shah also targeted the law and order situation in West Bengal.
He said, “In no other state, so many cases have been handed over to the CBI like in Bengal with the permission of the High Court. This tells us that the court does not have faith in the law and order situation in Bengal.”
He continued, “I had a detailed conversation with the bereaved family. They are hurt because they lost their son, but they are also hurt by the attitude of the administration.”
