Kolkata, 13th June 2022: Kolkata Police has issued a notice to Nupur Sharma and called for questioning on June 20.
This notice has been issued to her as she made a controversial statement on Prophet Mohammad.
An FIR was registered against the ex- BJP spokesperson in East Medinipur on Sunday.
Some people attacked and damaged a local train at Bethuadahari station in West Bengal’s Nadia district on Sunday evening over controversial remarks of Nupur Sharma against Prophet Mohammad.
An Eastern Railway official said that some staff of the station and passengers of the Krishnanagar-Lalgola local train were injured in the attack.
However, the situation remained largely peaceful on Sunday in the Howrah and Murshidabad districts, which have been facing violence for the last two days.
In East Medinipur district, police stopped the Leader of Opposition in the state assembly and BJP member Shubhendu Adhikari from going to violence-hit areas of Howrah as a precautionary measure as prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC were imposed there.
Police claimed that the visit of Shubhendu Adhikari may create an uproar there. At the same time, Shubhendu Adhikari said that he would approach the court against it on Monday.
