Gujarat, 28th March 2022: The assembly elections are going to be held in Gujarat by the end of this year. Recently, the Aam Aadmi Party, excited by winning Punjab, is also trying to expand its presence in Gujarat.

Mahesh Vasana, leader of the Bharatiya Tribal Party, which has a hold among the tribal communities in Gujarat, met Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi on Monday. A few days ago, AAP leaders from Gujarat had met Mahesh Vasana and his younger brother at their home in Bharuch. The meaning of these meetings is that there can be an alliance between the two parties.

The leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party have already invited the Bharatiya Tribal Party for an alliance. The Tribal Party of India contested the 2017 assembly elections in alliance with Congress and won two seats. However, later the Tribal Party distanced itself from Congress.

The Aam Aadmi Party unit of Gujarat said that Mahesh Vasana also visited a school and a mohalla clinic in the capital during his visit to Delhi. Mahesh Vasana himself is also an MLA from the Dediapada seat. Mahesh Vasana was accompanied by Aam Aadmi Party’s Isudan Gadhavi. During this, he talked about the issues related to the tribal areas of Gujarat.

In a tweet, the Aam Aadmi Party said, “After visiting Delhi’s government school, Mahesh Vasana said that if such schools are created for tribal communities, they will be developed.”

However, in June 2020, relations between Congress and the Indian Tribal Party deteriorated. Voting was to be held for the Rajya Sabha elections and the Tribal Party of India had distanced itself from it. BTP said that our party is different from both BJP and Congress, so we do not want to go with anyone. Last year they had severed ties with the Congress during the district panchayat elections of Narmada and Bharuch and allied with Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM.
