Kohima, 7th May 2023: There were many people from Nagaland stranded in Manipur amidst the ongoing violance situation. To evacuate these people safely, HQ IGAR (North), Kohima launched ‘OPERATION KOHIMA CALLING’ on 06-07 May 2023.

The operation was led by Deputy Inspector General of IGAR (North). The Officer led his team comprising of about 80 personnel in coordination with the Nagaland State Government and Nagaland Police. The team reached Imphal on 06 May 2023. Carrying out coordination of each and every aspect off the operation, the team started evacuating the people on early morning on 07 May 2023 from RIMS, Central Agricultural University, Manipur University and Koriengi places of Imphal.

A total of 676 persons to include 341 families were evacuated during this process.

The team reached Kohima at around 1 PM and was received by the Deputy Chief Minister Shri Y Patton and other dignitaries. Parents also arrived to receive their wards from the camp.

Deputy CM, in his address announced ₹5000 per household who have been evacuated. He applauded the efforts of the Assam Rifles and the State Police for the commendable effort. He also mentioned that many others who are still in Manipur, shall be evacuated soon. DGP, Nagaland and IG AR (North) also addressed the gathering and gave details of the OPERATION KOHIMA CALLING.

Angami Public Organisation and Angami Youth Organisation, in their speech, thanked Govt of Nagaland and the Assam Rifles for the successful completion of the operation and prayed for the well being of everyone.

Thereafter, under the State Govt, six buses were sent to Dimapur for further dispatch of people.
