New Delhi, 16th May 2022: The Delhi Municipal Corporation’s campaign against encroachment and illegal construction is going on in various areas of the capital Delhi. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi has expressed displeasure over this. On Monday, Arvind Kejriwal held a meeting with AAP MLAs regarding the action of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi against encroachment, after which he said that bulldozers are being run by the municipal corporations at many places in Delhi, and we are also against encroachment.
CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “Action should be taken against encroachment and illegal construction, but the way BJP is taking action is wrong. Because 80 per cent of Delhi is settled irregularly, then will 80 per cent of Delhi be razed? People are not even being given a chance, people living for 40 years are showing their house papers, and they are not even being heard. This is going wrong.”
Arvind Kejriwal said that there are 1700 irregular colonies in Delhi, in which more than 50 lakh people live, close to 13 lakh people live in slums etc. The BJP ruled municipal corporation is going to break them all. We will not tolerate this.
On Friday, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia raised questions about the action of BJP’s encroachment and illegal construction.
In a press conference, he had said that he had written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and urged him to stop the “destruction” in the name of the anti-encroachment drive.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also criticized the BJP’s “bulldozer politics” and claimed that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) was preparing to demolish 63 lakh houses in the national capital. Manish Sisodia had also said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is extorting money from the people by showing the fear of bulldozers.
