The Public Works Department says that ITPO has sought time from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the tunnel road. The project will be inaugurated when time permits. Tunnel road work has been completed from their side.

A department official said:

“That any information regarding the project would be given by the ITPO. But it is certain that the tunnel road work has been completed. If it is a matter of beautifying the surrounding area, then it will be completed later as well”.

He said that it may take some time to complete the work of Supreme Court Underpass and Bhairon Marg Ring Road T-Point Underpass. Leaving these two underpasses will be inaugurated.

With Mathura Road becoming signal free, it will be easier to travel from ITO towards South Delhi.

While the Pragati Maidan tunnel road going to be commissioned will free the ITO area from jams, with the commencement of the Ashram Underpass, it will be easier to travel from India Gate towards Badarpur. This tunnel will not only bring relief to the people of Delhi, but also the people of NCR states of UP and Haryana.

With the commencement of the Pragati Maidan Tunnel Road i.e. 1.2 km long tunnel road, the pressure of vehicular traffic on the development road in ITO area will be reduced, as vehicles coming from Ashok Road, Mandi House to ITO across Yamuna will use the tunnel road. In March, those projects related to the development of Delhi are being completed, which the people of Delhi have been anticipating for the last several years.
