New Delhi, 7th June 2022: The BJP has suspended Nupur Sharma for her remarks made during a TV debate on Prophet Mohammad. Nupur Sharma’s remarks came on 26 May, while the BJP took action on her on June 4th.

This action was taken after objections from many Muslim countries including Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain.

However, BJP sources say that apart from the objections of Arab countries, the reason for her suspension was the disturbance in the BJP’s own agenda. In fact, on May 26, the BJP’s central government had completed 8 years. On this occasion, the BJP had planned programs across the country including the election states like Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.

Through this, the BJP’s plan was to talk about the development narrative across the country and tell people about the welfare schemes of the Modi government. But the way the ruckus has arisen since Nupur Sharma’s statement, on one hand the BJP was uncomfortable, while on the other hand the government had to come in the mode of giving clarification in front of the Arab countries. This is the reason why the party took strict action against her and suspended her. Not just Nupur, another leader Naveen Jindal, who tweeted on the same issue, was also dismissed from the party.

Party leaders said that this development happened at a time when the government and the party were organizing programs to mark its completion of eight years. Earlier BJP had also advised its spokespersons to focus only on development issues and avoid getting caught up in anything else. It is believed that the party has also considered the remark on Prophet Mohammad as indiscipline.

A party leader said, “The party is clear on this issue. PM Narendra Modi has prepared a narrative on the issue of development and the job of the party is to support it. Anything that obstructs this process amounts to indiscipline.”

In the meeting of Jaipur, PM had already ad iced leaders to cautiously choose words

In the month of May itself, while addressing the BJP’s national executive meeting in Jaipur, PM Narendra Modi had advised the leaders and workers to be careful with their choice of words and speeches.

PM Narendra Modi had clearly said, “We have to stand firm on the issue of development in any case and bring people to it. If we do not control speech, anything will become an issue and things like development will be left behind.”

It is believed that Nupur Sharma’s comment crossed the line of discipline, which was drawn by PM Narendra Modi.
