Pune, 10th August 2022: The Supreme Court has granted Nupur Sharma interim protection from arrest till the completion of the investigation into the alleged hate remarks against Prophet Mohammad.
The court has transferred the investigation of the FIR registered against Nupur Sharma to Delhi Police while directing to transfer all the cases registered against Nupur Sharma in different parts of the country to Delhi.
Hearing Nupur Sharma’s petition last month, the Supreme Court stayed the arrest till August 10. The court has issued notices to the Center and the states where cases have been registered against them.
In this notice, the court had asked the states and the central government why the cases registered against Nupur Sharma should not be transferred to one place.
In the petition filed by Nupur Sharma, it was said that 9 FIRs are registered against her at different places and all of them should be transferred to one place so that she does not have to travel to different cities in the country.
Nupur Sharma’s lawyer Maninder Singh had said that her client’s life is in danger and she is getting threats from everywhere.
Nupur Sharma withdrew her words only after the matter was caught and she was suspended from the party.
By writing a post on social media, Nupur Sharma said, “I could not tolerate the insult of Mahadev and said some things in anger. I take back my words.”
She added, “I was going on TV debates for the last several days, where my adorable Shiv Ji was being insulted every day. It was being said in front of me that it is not a Shivling but a fountain. Many Shivlings are found on every footpath of Delhi, go and worship them.”
