New Delhi, 28th March 2022: A SpiceJet flight on Monday collided with an electric pole at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport before taking off with passengers. The incident happened during the pushback of the aircraft. However, the accident was avoided.

According to reports, the plane was moving from the passenger terminal to the runway when the incident took place. A part of the wings of this SpiceJet flight collided with an electric pole while pushing back. The electric pole was bent in half due to the collision. The plane’s wing also suffered damage.

Airport officials said the plane was diverted after the incident and the passengers were shifted to another flight. They said that the investigation into the incident has been started.

According to the airline, flight number SG 160 was to depart from Delhi for Jammu. They said, “Today, SpiceJet flight number SG 160 was scheduled to operate between Delhi and Jammu. During the pushback, the right-wing came into close contact with a power pole, causing damage to the ailerons. A replacement flight has been arranged to operate the flight.”
