New Delhi, 22nd August 2022: ABVP-supported students gherao the finance officer in JNU for not releasing fellowship. During this dispute over the issue of fellowship, ABVV supporters\students held the finance officer hostage.

An incident of violence and ruckus has come to the fore in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) located in Delhi. The students had gone there to take a scholarship after which the students clashed with the guards present there. According to sources, ABVP-supported students gheraoed the finance officer in JNU for not releasing the fellowship. During the controversy over the issue of fellowship, JNU students, who were pro-ABVV, also held the finance officer hostage for two hours. A while back ABVV JNU had shared a video on its official Twitter handle saying that, ‘’After exposing the corruption of the rector of JNU, the ABVP JNU workers were agitating for the stalled scholarship of JNU students, when the goons of the rector who were posted as the security guards of JNU attacked the students.’’

The students alleged that on the orders of the corrupt rector of JNU, when ABVP JNU activists and students raised their voice against the lax attitude of the management for the fellowship that was stalled for years, Surya Prakash committed violence against the students and students. Students also say that even after having money with the university, the administration is grabbing the money of the students for months. They said that,’’ We have been mistreated and beaten up badly for asking for our own research fellowship and scholarship.’’

It is also being said that about half a dozen students have suffered injuries. ABVP president Rohit Kumar JNU has also been injured in this fight at JNU. It is also said that students can register their complaint with the police in this matter soon.
