Mansa (Punjab), 29th May 2022: Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead by some miscreants in the Jawaharke village of Mansa district. Moosewaala was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition after being shot, but his life could not be saved and the doctors declared him dead upon arrival. A day earlier on Saturday, the Mann government of Punjab withdrew VIP security from Moosewala.

After the murder of Moosewala, questions are being raised on the Punjab government because, a day earlier, the Bhagwant Mann government withdrew the police protection of 424 people including Moosewala.

Sidhu Moosewala contested the Punjab Assembly elections on a Congress ticket from Mansa and was defeated by AAP candidate Vijay Singla by a huge margin of 63,000 votes. Vijay Singla was recently sacked by Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on corruption charges. Last month, Sidhu Moosewaala had courted controversy after targeting the Aam Aadmi Party and its supporters in his latest song ‘Bali ka kraa’. The singer had reportedly called AAP supporters ‘gaddars’ (traitors) in his song.

His police protection was uplifted yesterday on Saturday.

The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann decided to withdraw the security given to 424 people in the state. Those whose security has been withdrawn include several retired police officers, religious leaders and political figures. Earlier in April, the Punjab government had ordered the withdrawal of the security of 184 people, including former ministers, former MLAs and other leaders.
