Mumbai, 10th June 2021: A total of 11 people including seven children were killed and seven others were seriously injured after a residential building collapsed in Mumbai’s Malad area around Wednesday midnight.
A four-storey building at New Collector Compound in Malwani collapsed on neighbouring houses around 11 pm on Wednesday. Residents from affected buildings have since been evacuated. The death toll is expected to rise as there is a possibility of people being stuck under debris.
Guardian Minister Aslam Sheikh said, “The building collapsed due to heavy rain. The injured were rushed to a hospital in Kandivali with the help of locals.”
According to a doctor, 17 injured people were brought. Nine of them had died. Eight others are being treated.
Police and firefighters are on the scene and rescue operations are underway.
