Mumbai, 17th January 2022: Jayant Patil, Maharashtra’s Water Resources Minister extended Tesla CEO Elon Musk to set up manufacturing plants in the state for their electric cars.

This development came after Elon Musk replied to a Twitter user, who asked, “Yo @elonmusk any further update as to when Tesla’s will launch in India? They’re pretty awesome and deserve to be in every corner of the world!”

Musk replied by tweeting, “Still working through a lot of challenges with the government”

Following the tweets, Jayant Patil in his tweet to Musk said, “Maharashtra is one of the most progressive states in India. We will provide you all the necessary help from Maharashtra for you to get established in India. We invite you to establish your manufacturing plant in Maharashtra.”

Maharashtra approached Tesla in the past too. Cabinet Ministers Aditya Thackeray and Subhash Desai had interacted with a Tesla team in October 2020 regarding the establishment of a manufacturing unit in the state.

Since Elon Musk’s tweet, Telangana, Punjab and West Bengal have also extended their invitations.
