Shillong, 17th January 2023: On Monday (January 16), Conrad K. Sangma, the chief minister of Meghalaya, on Monday inaugurated the state’s first engineering school, Shillong Government College of Engineering.
According to officials, the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) took on the project, which was completed at Rs 26 crore on an area of land measuring 7.8 acres on the Shillong Polytechnic campus in Mawlai Kynton Massar in the East Khasi Hills region.
The engineering college would provide degree programmes in three fields, including mining, electrical, and civil, with a maximum enrollment of 30 students per batch.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister stated that the government has been focusing on the youth for the past five years and has started several programmes as a result.
