Manipur, 21st December 2022: A major road accident has taken place in the Noney district of Manipur. Five students aboard have died after a bus overturned. More than 20 people have also been injured in the accident, the police informed.

The accident occurred on Old Cachar Road near the Longsai area, about 55 km from the capital Imphal. State Chief Minister N Biren Singh has tweeted a video related to the accident. A bus overturned is visible in this video. A crowd is also visible around the bus.

Police said that all the students are from Thambalanu Higher Secondary School. The students were going in two buses for a study tour at Khoupum in the Noney district. Police said the bus the girl students were travelling in overturned after the driver lost control. The injured were admitted to the hospital for treatment.
