Mumbai/Pune, 25th January 2022: A constable of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) today shot himself with his service SLR rifle in Mumbai. The constable was rushed to JJ Hospital after the incident. His condition is said to be critical.

The constable has been identified as Pushkar Sudhakar Shinde (36).

According to the information given by police, Shinde was posted at a Mantralaya for guard duty and returned to Dongri on Tuesday morning. Arrangements have been made at BMC school for his platoon’s stay.

Shinde is a part of SRPF Group No. 2, Pune, D company, Platoon no. 1 which is posted at Mantralaya guard duty from January 6, 2022. Police further informed that when Shinde fired himself with a rifle he was inside a van.
