Patna, 21st February 2022: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Monday sentenced former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav to five years of imprisonment in the fodder scam case related to Doranda Treasury.
On February 15, Lalu was convicted by the court for the illegal withdrawal of Rs 139.35 crore from Doranda treasury in the fodder scam case. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu reacted after the sentencing through video conferencing.
He tweeted, “I will continue to fight against injustice, inequality, dictatorship, and oppressive power. Putting the truth in your eyes whose power rests. With whom the people stand, nobody can break their spirits. I fight those who fight among themselves. They cannot defeat me, that’s why they trap me in controversies. I am not scared, and I will not bow down. I have always fought and will continue to fight. Cowards will never understand the struggle of the fighters.”
Today, Special Judge SK Shashi of CBI Court sentenced a total of 40 convicts including Lalu in the biggest case of fodder scam. RJD supremo Lalu has also been fined 60 lakhs by the court. Lalu has already been convicted in four other fodder scam cases.
At present, Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is suffering from 17 types of diseases, is being treated at RIMS. Lalu will now have to apply for bail. Until the bail is granted, he will remain in jail.
At the same time, after the decision of the court, Tejashwi Yadav said that this is not the final decision. Tejashwi expressed hope that the decision of the lower court will be changed in the High Court. Tejashwi also attacked the Center and the Bihar government. He said that apart from the fodder scam, there have been many scams in the country.
